We were recently approached by Nantwich based Blue Skies Ahead and asked to consider if we would offer our specialist framing services for another worthwhile cause , another project we were extremely pleased to be able to assist with.
Blue Skies Ahead is a not for profit organisation established in September 2010 by 3 friends, who decided they could do more in the race to beat cancer. All the Blue Skies Ahead volunteers have lost someone dear to them as a result of cancer. 1 in 3 people will develop cancer at some point in their lifetime, and 1 person dies from the disease every 4 minutes. However, thanks to the brilliant work done by Cancer Research UK, over half of all people diagnosed now survive for over 4 years and survival rates have doubled over the last 4 years. Blue Skies Ahead decided to help Cancer Research UK and in turn, help them combat cancer with the hope that eventually all cancer sufferers will experience the blue skies ahead.
The event was a Charity Grand Summer Ball which was taking place on Friday 3rd June 2011 at the Macdonald Portal Golf Hotel, Tarporley - On the “menu” was a sumptuous 4-course dinner, a live rock and roll band, auctions, raffles and much, much more!
The event, on June 3, had already been backed by organisations including Manchester United and Liverpool FC and the goal was to raise £5000 for Cancer Research , so no surprises that we were asked to frame a signed Michael Owen shirt and a signed Javier Hernandez shirt!
We duly framed the shirts at short notice despite a heavy workload in order that the organisers could collect them a couple of days before the event.
Watch this space for more news of a unique major fundraising event coming hopefully next year to be organised by The Picture Framing Centre Blackpool who once again hope to work closely with all the team at Blue Skies Ahead.
